Order of St Henry

The Order's delegation met in the capital at the invitation of the Förderverein Berliner Schloss, e.V. (Berlin Palace Support Association). The programme began with a Holy Mass celebrated by H.E. Archbishop Dr Rainer Koch in St Hedwig's Cathedral. At the end of the service, the celebrant was awarded the St Henry's Needle by the Master of the Order for his services as Bishop in Dresden. On Saturday, a visit to the construction site of the Berlin Palace and the cathedral building lodge under the direction of Wilhelm von Boddien.
On Sunday, we were invited to lunch with the Heiner & Ulla Pietzsch family at their villa, which is designed as a museum to house and exhibit their important collection of Expressionist and Surrealist art. The occasion was the awarding of the St. Heinrichsnadel to Mr Heiner Pietzsch by Margrave Alexander von Meissen for his services to modern art and his generous support for the reconstruction of his native city of Dresden. In addition to our delegation from the Order, numerous friends of the family were also invited.
