Order of St Henry

Vienna, September 2012

We visited Vienna at the invitation of the Sachsendragoner from Zwölfaxing. The programme included a visit to the Albertina and the Museum of Military History, where a special surprise awaited us: the military band of the Austrian army was lined up in front of the museum façade to present the world premiere of the Margrave of Meissen March. This musical piece was composed by the conductor and leader of the music corps in memory of Margrave Maria Emanuel. In the Albertina, the magnificent collection of paintings, prints, engravings, drawings and etchings founded by Prince Albert of Saxony-Teschen, we were very fortunate to be shown the famous "Hare" by Albrecht Dürer and other unique pieces in the original. This trip documented the strong historical ties between the Habsburg and Wettin dynasties.
